  • I remember when I first moved to Vancouver I lived in the West End. It's the gay area of Vancouver, similar to Church and Welsley in Toronto.

I have to admit it weirded me out at first but eventually I grew to love it. There was always something going on, the streets were safe.

There was a gay club that played good house music, something you couldn't find in the mainstream clubs in the early 90s. I was convinced to go by a couple of gay friends and they assured me I'd love it.

It took a bit to get over all the gayness but once my friends pointed out how many hot straight women were in the club, I was cool with it all.

Of course the streets was safe, you don't f*** around with a group of gay guys or else they'll cut your FACE!

  • Even though I spent a few years in New York, I've never been to a gay male club.  From what I've heard, I tend to think of them as being exactly like straight clubs - meaning there's a bunch of less flamboyant dudes-that-you'd-never-know-where-gay (the typical 'men') and then a group of super flamboyant, suggestive dressing dudes-that-you-know-damn-well-are-gay (typical 'female').  Is that pretty much on point?

I was in that Area in VanCity when i was there for a conference... best part of town in my opinion. we would walk down Davies street all the way to the bay... Vancouver is awesome, took the family there and Sherley loved it.
